Mr Giuseppe Arduino has a Master's degree in Geological Sciences from the University of Torino (Italy).
From 1986 to 1987 he worked as a developer of geographic information systems, with particular application to hydrogeology in African countries.
From 1987 to 1990 he worked in Lesotho as a hydrogeologist for the Groundwater Project, an Italian funded co-operation programme to support the Groundwater Division of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Lesotho.
From 1990 to 1992 he was a consultant hydrogeologist to Golder Associates, an international consulting firm in engineering and geoscience applied fields (Italy).
From 1992 to 1994 he was appointed to the Groundwater Division of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Lesotho, responsible for the compilation of the 1st Hydrogeological Map of Lesotho, published in 1994.
From 1994 to 2000, he worked as a senior associate hydrogeologist to GEODES s.r.l. (Torino, Italy), a consulting firm in engineering and geoscience applied fields.
Mr Arduino joined the UNESCO Jakarta Office in January 2001 as Programme Specialist in Hydrological and Geological Sciences, and as Regional Hydrologist for Southeast Asia and the Pacific. His responsibility is to promote national and regional co-operation within the International Hydrological Programme (IHP), the International Geoscience Programme (IGCP) and their related networks.
